Uzbekistan, Indonesia to strengthen trade-economic relations
On November 28, 2018, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Ilhom Nematov received a delegation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, which arrived in our country to participate in the next round of ministerial political consultations, the press service of the Foreign Ministry reported.
An exchange of views took place between the parties on topical issues of the general agenda. The guests were informed about the policy of Uzbekistan in the Central Asian region.
On the same day, the 7th meeting of the Uzbek-Indonesian political consultations was held, during which the current state and prospects of bilateral relations in political, trade-economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian and other fields were considered in detail.
The sides noted the significant potential for the development of mutually beneficial relations in almost all areas of cooperation and confirmed their firm intention to increase them.
For the first 9 months of 2018, mutual trade between Uzbekistan and Indonesia increased by 1.5 times compared to the same period last year and amounted to about $ 38 million. At the same time, the number of tourists from Indonesia who visited Uzbekistan almost doubled. In this context, the parties’ proposals for maintaining the dynamics of strengthening relations, expanding the range of mutual deliveries of products and services were discussed.
The issues of interaction within the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as other international and regional organizations were also considered.
