Citizens to pay around 304,000 sums for new International Passport
During a press conference in Tashkent, the Ministry of Interior of Uzbekistan disclosed more information about the new international passport that will be launched from January 1, 2019, Kun.uz correspondent reported.
The new passport will be burgundy in color and contain 48 pages. Pictures with historical sights of Uzbekistan, watermarks, octagonal pentagram, color-changing paint, moiré effect, metallized security thread, laminated film, as well as an embedded electronic chip will be added to the sheets of the new passport.
For issuing new passports, it is planned to install 12 new stations for collecting biometric information with a capacity of admitting 180-200 people per day at each station. Today, there are 20 stations for the collection of biometric information in the capital.
In addition, for non-transportable persons, a special “mobile collection station” is provided which will visit the place of residence of citizens. In the future, information is planned to be collected by mobile electronic tablets. For this purpose, a special application will be developed.
In order to obtain a new passport, citizens will have to apply locally to the department of Internal Affairs, submit an application form in one copy that is certified from work, school or territorial self-government bodies. Together with it, one photo of 3.5 cm by 4.5 cm, copy of the passport and certificate for the military registration (for those who are bound to military service) will be presented.
The state duty up to 150% of the monthly minimum wage will be collected (now - about 304,000 sums). Passport will be produced within 10 days.
Validity of the new international passport for minors will be 5 years, those who are over 16 years old - 10 years.
It should be noted that until January 1, 2021, citizens of Uzbekistan will be able to travel using valid biometric passports of the sample of 2011 to countries with which a visa-free regime has been established (Republic of Azerbaijan, Republic of Armenia, Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kazakhstan, Republic of Moldova, Russian Federation, Ukraine and Georgia).
