Indian LAVA International may produce mobile phones in Uzbekistan

The Indian company LAVA International plans to organize the production of mobile phones in Uzbekistan.

This was announced following the negotiations between chief financial officer of the Indian company Ajay Dua, head of the business department Dsouza Lloyd and leadership of the State Committee of Investments, which were held recently in Tashkent.

During the talks, issues of establishing and further strengthening bilateral cooperation were discussed and participation of the Indian company in the implementation of joint investment projects in the electronics industry in Uzbekistan was considered.

Mr. Ajay Dua spoke about plans of the company for the near future and stated that they are studying the possibility of entering the Central Asian market. He also defined Uzbekistan as the most promising country in the region, taking into account ongoing reforms, growing economic potential and competitive advantages.

According to the investor, at the early stages of the project, it is planned to organize medium-range training courses (6 - 9 months) for Uzbek specialists in assembling and producing mobile phones with their subsequent employment.

The committee was proposed to consider the issue of holding negotiations and possibility of reaching an agreement with the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education for training student-engineers from Uzbekistan at the plants of LAVA International in India or other regions.

It should be noted that LAVA International is an Indian multinational company, founded in 2009, as a subsidiary organization of telecommunications. The localization level of the production of mobile phones and tablets is 100% and production volume is more than 2.5 million gadgets per month.
