The Ambassador of Uzbekistan to the Benelux countries Dilyor Khakimov met with Jan Vrijburg, head of the International Department of the Netherlands airline company KLM, MFA press service says.

The parties discussed the prospects for establishing cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Netherlands in the field of air traffic and emerging new opportunities for the improvement of the tourism sector of our country.

KLM plans to connect the airports of the Netherlands, in particular Schiphol, with the countries of Central Asia, the Far East region and India through Uzbekistan.

As noted during the meeting, Uzbekistan Airways, in case of interest, may begin negotiations with the Dutch authorities on the possibility of starting flights from the winter of 2019-2020.

The parties also spoke positively in favor of establishing flights to Uzbekistan by partner airlines, including using the leading international low-cost airlines that fly to Schiphol. This will dramatically increase the number of tourists from the Netherlands by reducing the cost of tours to Uzbekistan, as well as improve business contacts and travel of European entrepreneurs to the republic.

Following the meeting, it was agreed in principle to conduct an assessment study and an analysis of the possibilities for increasing passenger traffic in Uzbekistan, in particular from the Netherlands and the Nordic countries.
