At the end of last week, the owner of Alp Jamol Bank (one of the first private banks in the country) Muhiddin Asomutdinov returned to Uzbekistan.

One of the relatives of Mukhiddin Asomutdinov said that the ex-banker has lived all these years with the hope of returning to Uzbekistan.

He added that Muhiddin Asomutdinov returned to Uzbekistan with the permission of the authorities.

In due time, a criminal case was initiated against the ex-banker under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. As the head of Public Relations and Legal Information of the Prosecutor General’s Office Surayyo Rakhmonova confirmed to Kun.uz, the preventive measure was changed to a subscription of a letter of appropriate behavior thanks to the sincere repentance of the accused, full compensation for the harm caused by him, as well as the initiative to cooperate with the investigation.

It should be recalled that in March 2010, the Central Bank of Uzbekistan revoked the license of the private commercial bank Alp Jamol Bank. Since March 10, branches of banks and its website ceased their activities. According to the data, until the period of termination of Alp Jamol Bank's activities, its assets amounted to 118 billion soums or nearly 67 million US dollars. The number of bank customers was 115 thousand people.

In March 2011, according to the verdict of the Olmazar District Criminal Court of Tashkent, all movable and immovable property of the terminated Alp Jamol Bank was turned into state revenue through a liquidation commission.
