Tashkent to host an International Marathon

The capital of Uzbekistan will host the first International Marathon on March 24, 2019, Kun.uz correspondent reports with reference to the press service of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan.

These days, representatives of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) are on a visit in Tashkent to participate in the organizational issues of the event. 

“The organization of the international level marathon has its own requirements and standards: the length of the track, its condition, route determination and other nuances. In the absence of violations of certain regulations, the International Association of Athletics Federations provides a certificate giving the right to hold a marathon on this route,” the National Olympic Committee noted.

In the capital, it is planned to hold a marathon at a distance of 21,095 meters. It is noteworthy that Tashkent will host such an event for the first time.

It should be noted that this year it is also planned to hold the famous Shanghai Marathon in Tashkent in cooperation with Chinese company “Runff (Suzhou) Sports Development”. It will also be held in March.
