No way to escape now: Ministry of Internal Affairs purchases devices for promptly fining pedestrians violating traffic rules

The Ministry of Internal Affairs is procuring electronic devices for promptly fining pedestrians who violate traffic rules, Kun.uz correspondent reports.

“The Ministry of Internal Affairs approved a special order to improve the legal mechanisms for bringing pedestrians to administrative responsibility. This document has created a legal basis for determining the identity of a pedestrian using information communication technologies and drawing up an administrative protocol in the e-form. Currently, the work is underway to acquire electronic devices for road patrol officers,” the Ministry noted.

Reportedly, last year alone 109,280 pedestrians were fined for violating the traffic rules.

It should be reminded that Article 138 (violation of traffic rules by pedestrians and other road users) of the Administrative Responsibility Code provides for the imposition of a fine in the amount of one third of MMW for pedestrians not complying with traffic control signals, passing through unauthorized places.

They will pay the same amount of fine for using mobile phones, reading books or periodicals, watching videos and listening to audio materials, as well as using other electronic tools that distract attention when walking on the roadway, including at pedestrian crossing.
