Traffic police in Tashkent starts to “hunt” debtor drivers from January 30
From January 30, a campaign will be launched in Tashkent to identify drivers evading payment of traffic fines, Kun.uz correspondent reports.
“From January 30, traffic patrols jointly with representatives of the Bureau of Compulsory Enforcement at the General Prosecutor's Office will begin identifying drivers who have not paid the penalty for traffic violations on time and placing their vehicles on the penalty area,” the police department said.
This measure is provided for in Article 291 (Grounds, procedure for detention and inspection of vehicles) of the Administrative Responsibility Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In Part 2 of the same Code, the followings are said:
"In the case of non-payment of a fine for violating traffic rules that is fixed by special automated technical means of photo and video recording, after 60 days have passed from the date of a fine imposition, the vehicle is detained until the clearance of the imposed fine.”
