A state body on social protection to be created in Uzbekistan
A state body on social protection will be created in Uzbekistan, Kun.uz correspondent reports citing UNICEF data.
“Creating a state body responsible for developing a social protection strategy and consolidating the social protection functions of various ministries will maximize the returns from Uzbekistan’s significant investments in social protection and increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the system as a whole. A strong social protection system is especially important during economic reforms for protection of the population from socio-economic risks,” noted in UNICEF.
The emergence of a state social protection authority is provided for by the State Program for 2019.
“This is a very important decision for the country. The reforms carried out by the government are aimed at bringing Uzbekistan to a new level of development. Political will and commitment allow for an effective response of the social protection system to the needs and aspirations of the population of Uzbekistan,” said Sascha Graumann, UNICEF Representative in Uzbekistan.
According to him, UNICEF is committed to continue to support the government of Uzbekistan in improving the social protection system.
