Political science to be taught at UWED

The President of Uzbekistan signed a decree “On measures to increase the effectiveness of training, fundamental and applied research in the field of political sciences”.

The resolution was adopted in order to increase the effectiveness of training in the sphere of political science, conduct comprehensive system research in the field of formation and development of civil society, political foundations of the national statehood, creation and implementation of domestic and foreign policy of the state in a globalizing world.

According to the document, in the academic year 2019-2020, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy establishes admission quotas for training: 

- bachelors in the direction of education “Political science” in the amount of 20 people, including the state grants – 5 people;

- masters in the specialty of education “Applied political science” in the amount of 10 people, including the state grants – 2 people;

- basic doctoral students in the amount of 4 people and doctoral students in the amount of 2 people in the specialty of the science “Political science”.

In addition, the Department of “Political science” is being created at the aforementioned university. The Department will provide training in the field of political science based on the use of advanced international experience and modern educational technologies.

Within a month, the Cabinet of Ministers is entrusted with ensuring the introduction of appropriate changes and additions to the Classifier of directions and specialties of higher education.

In a two-month period, the foundation “El-yurt umidi” together with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was instructed to submit to the Cabinet of Ministers proposals for attracting leading foreign experts to the university’s educational process, including among the compatriots living abroad.

It should be recalled that the official closure of all departments and faculties specialized in political science, as well as councils for defending doctoral dissertations in political science was announced in early 2013.

In 2015, universities of Uzbekistan completely abolished teaching the political science.
