Scientists of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan to collaborate in studying consequences of Soviet repressive policy

Kyrgyz and Uzbek scientists are collaborating to explore the tragic consequences of Soviet repressive policies in southern Kyrgyzstan, the honored scientist of the Kyrgyz Republic, director of the Muras Foundation of the Historical and Cultural Heritage of the People of Kyrgyzstan under the Kyrgyz Administration, Kabar news agency reports citing Professor Kyas Moldokasymov as saying.

He said that thanks to the wise policy of the presidents of Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, at present there is a comprehensive improvement and dynamic development of the relations in all areas, including research and development.

“Against this background, Kyrgyz scientists managed to get permission to work in the Central State Archive of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Previously, such an opportunity was limited,” Moldokasymov noted.

Currently, together with the Meros (Heritage) International Charitable Foundation of the Scientific and Practical Expedition, headed by Professor of Andijan State University Rustambek Shamsutdinov, work is underway to prepare a two-volume collection of archival documents and materials on the topic: “Soviet Repressive Policy in the South of Kyrgyzstan and its Tragic Consequences. 1925-1959,” he shared.

Moldokasymov also announced that work had already begun in the Central State Archive with a prominent historian, doctor of historical sciences, Professor Tashmanbet Kenensariev.

“31 years ago, when I was 23–25 years old, here I was collecting materials about the life and activities of Kurmanjan Datka, Toktogul Satylganov, Polot Khan, Shabdan Baatyr and other historical events and brought them to the attention of the public. I am sure that this time there will be new materials about history and culture, as well as about relations between Kyrgyz and Uzbek peoples,” the Kyrgyz scientist concluded.
