Kamilov, Ghani discuss prospects for regional economic cooperation
Abdulaziz Kamilov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, participating in the Munich Security Conference, met with President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Muhammad Ashraf Ghani on 14 February.
According to the press service of the Foreign Ministry, the meeting discussed topical issues of cooperation in the launch of a peaceful political dialogue in Afghanistan, which should be carried out by the Afghans themselves.
“President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani thanked the President of Uzbekistan and the fraternal Uzbek people for their consistent and energetic efforts to promote the peace process in his country, its social and economic revival,” the statement said.
The conversation also covered other issues of the Uzbek-Afghan agenda, including the implementation of joint transport, energy and other projects aimed at creating trans-Afghan transit corridors and strengthening regional economic cooperation.
