FC “Surkhon” and “Dinamo” to be included in the Uzbekistan Super League
At the 2019 season, 14 clubs will participate in the Super League. Licensing Committee of Uzbekistan Football Association has provided football clubs “Surkhon” and “Dinamo” with the opportunity to qualify for the Super League, an official website of the UFA said.
“The management of the UFA values the regional governors who are keen on development of football in their regions. To date, the governor of Namangan region Khayrulla Bozorov, governor of Andijan region Shukhrat Abdurakhmonov and many others have been working on development of the regional football. Now, the governors of Surkhandarya and Samarkand regions have also expressed readiness for full cooperation with the UFA,” the report said.
“Surkhandarya region has been far from the League for years. After appointment of Erkinjon Turdimov as a governor of this region, positive trends were observed in the regional football. At the same time, the football club “Surkhon” has met all the requirements of the Licensing Committee. The current governor of the region Bakhodir Pulatov has been supporting maintenance works of the main stadium in the region. Erkinjon Turdimov has already started to raise football in Samarkand region. These activities are noteworthy for the Uzbek Football Association. Additionally, considering the wishes of millions of fans in the two regions, it is decided to provide the football clubs “Dinamo” and “Surkhon” with admission to the Super League,” Umid Akhmadjonov said.
Prior to that, the Professional Football League (PFL) presented the format and regulations for 12 clubs. Later on, this issue was analyzed between the Licensing Committee and the UFA Executive Committee.
“Increasing the number of clubs resulted in intense debates. Finally, the Professional Football League was set a deadline for approving a modified version of a new set of requirements by the UFA Executive Committee. Besides, on February 25, representatives of “Surkhon” and “Dinamo” have been allowed to take part in the draw for Super League 2019 season,” the official statement said.
“Such decision has been taken a few days before the start of championship. Prior to this, we were able to work with 12 Super League clubs on our own terms. Now, another two clubs will work hard to catch up with them. Our aim is to cover more regions with football and to bring as many fans as possible. We are ready to make minor changes in the regulators for achieving such big goals,” the UFA vice-president noted.
As it turns out, the PFL officially informs about the Super League’s new format and other processes surrounding it.
