Uzbek FM meets with Taliban representative in Doha
Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov in Doha last Sunday met with the head of the Taliban delegation Baradar Akhund and discussed with him the peaceful settlement of the Afghan problem, Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said, Interfax reports.
At the meeting, the sides also considered issues related to economic assistance to Afghanistan.
Ismatilla Irgashev, special representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan, also participated in the negotiations in Qatar.
The delegation of Uzbekistan has declared its readiness to cooperate for the sake of peace in Afghanistan and to continue work on providing assistance in the economic sector of the country.
Kamilov also said that Uzbekistan “does not want to interfere in the internal affairs of Afghanistan”.
Akhund, for his part, noted that the Taliban welcomes the efforts of Uzbekistan aimed at peaceful settlement of the problem and thanked for the economic support to the Afghan people.
