Russian State University of Cinematography plans to open a Creative Center in Uzbekistan
The Russian State University of Cinematography named after S. Gerasimov (VGIK) may open a creative center in Uzbekistan. A corresponding agreement was reached between the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Russia Botirjon Asadov and the officials of the RF. This was announced on Monday by the Russian Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky, TASS reports.
“With the Ambassador of Uzbekistan B. Asadov, we agreed to establish a creative center of the Russian State University of Cinematography in Uzbekistan and to attract teachers who will help train personnel for the development of film production in the country,” wrote Medinsky on his Twitter.
As specified in the press service of the department, the teaching staff of the creative center is planned to be formed from the number of VGIK graduates, citizens of Uzbekistan.
State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Alla Manilova, Director of the Department of Cinematography Olga Lyubimova, Acting Director of the Department of Science and Education Svyatoslav Golubenko also attended the working meeting. The parties discussed the prospects for international bilateral cooperation in the field of culture, as well as an increase in the number of quotas for education at VGIK in Moscow.
The institute was founded in 1919 by the film director Vladimir Gardin as the Moscow Film School and is the oldest film school in the world. From 1934 to 1991 the film school was known as the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography. The training is done in accordance with the curricula of higher education comprising a wide range of disciplines in the chosen profession as well as humanities.
