Senator Mirabror Usmanov, 71, dies

Today, senator and ex-president of the Uzbekistan Football Association Mirabror Usmanov died in Tashkent. This was reported to Kun.uz by an informative source.

It was reported that on March 12, M. Usmanov was hospitalized in the intensive care unit because of respiratory tract and lung disease.

Mirabror Usmanov was born on July 4, 1947 in Tashkent. In 1978, he graduated from Samarkand Cooperative Institute. From 1961 to 1967, he worked as a cook at the restaurant “Bahor”. In 1970, he was a production manager of the restaurant “Gulistan”, from 1970 to 1986 he was the head of the restaurants “Dustlik” and “Zarafshon”, director of the trust of restaurants in Tashkent. From 1986 to 1990, he headed the main catering department at the Tashkent city Executive Committee.

From 1990 to 1992 – Minister of Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, from 1992 to 1994, Chairman of the “Uzbeksavdo” company, from 1994 to 2005 – Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, from 2006 to 2017 – President of the Uzbekistan Football Association.

Since 2005, Usmanov was a member of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of the Republic. In the period from 2013 to 2017, he headed the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan.

In 1995, Mirabror Usmanov was awarded the order “Mekhnat shukhrati”, in 1997 the Diploma of the Republic of Uzbekistan, in 2006 a memorial symbol “15 years of independence of Uzbekistan”, in 2012 the order “El-yurt hurmati” and in 2017 the order “Dustlik”.
