Olympic team of Uzbekistan qualify for knockout stage of the Asian Football Championship

The matches of the qualifying stage of the U-23 Asian Football Championship ended in Tashkent. In the decisive confrontation of the group stage, the Olympic team of Uzbekistan played against peers from Tajikistan.

The game ended in a draw, and in the end both teams scored 4 points. By the goal difference, our team was ahead and directly won the right to participate in the final stage of the Asian Championship.

The Asian U-23 Championship will take place next year from January 8 to 26 in Thailand. It will be attended by 16 teams. The importance of the tournament lies in the fact that it presents opportunity to take part in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The teams winning the first 3 places will receive licenses for the Olympic Games. If Japan reaches the semi-finals, four teams will go to the Olympics.
