Import of counterfeit drugs has been discovered –Prosecutor General’s Office
Recently, a department under the General Prosecutor's Office has held pre-investigation inspection on legal protection of entrepreneurship. During the inspection, it was identified that a foreign enterprise LLC “B” operating in Samarkand city imported counterfeit medicines into the Republic of Uzbekistan. In accordance with the results of laboratory examinations, medicament “KOMASTON” produced in India turned out to be fake.
According to the Prosecutor General's Office, laboratory tests have revealed that there is no essential substance known as “Didrogesteron” contained in the drug component.
Also, during the pre-investigation inspection, it was identified that an expert of the foreign enterprise LLC “B” J. N. and others prepared fake documents and were able to import 115,538 units of “KOMASTON” drugs to the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2018, of which 76,538 units had been sold in domestic markets for 4,821 million soums. Employees of the department took measures to prevent the entry of counterfeit “KOMASTON” drugs into domestic markets.
On this fact, a criminal case has been initiated against the specialist of the foreign enterprise LLC “B” J. N. and others under relevant articles of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. Investigative activities are underway.
