In Bulungur district, construction of the “Bulungur” water reservoir has started, Zarnews reports.

It is noted that about 100 excavators and bulldozers of several water-construction companies, such as the state-owned enterprise “Uzmakhsussuvkurilish”, state unitary enterprises “Zarafshonmakhsussuvkurilish”, “Boyovutdavsuvmakhsuspudrat”, “Yozyovonmakhsussuvkurilish” have started digging and flattening the land.

“The President of our country proposed to build this water reservoir during his visit to the region on January 11 of this year,” Jurabek Berdimurodov, head of joint projects department of the SUE “Samarkandsuvkurilishinvest” says. “The source of water for this reservoir, with a projected capacity of 100 million cubic meters, is mainly the water flowing through the Bulungur district during winter season, as well as water floods. Construction works will be completed in 2021. With the launch of the water reservoir, farmers who produce agricultural products in 35,800 hectares of irrigated and non-irrigated land in Ishtikhon, Payarik and Bulungur districts will be provided with continuous water supply.

It is planned to spend 163.3 billion soums to build the “Bulungur” water reservoir.

It should be recalled, in early December 2018, Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced that seven new water reservoirs would be built soon.
