Abdulaziz Kamilov receives Alan Duncan
On April 16, 2019, Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan, Abdulaziz Kamilov, received the Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Alan Duncan, the MFA reported.
The sides noted with satisfaction the intensification of bilateral relations in the political, economic, trade, investment, tourism, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres. In 2018, mutual trade grew by 37% compared with the previous year and amounted to $235.9 million, the United Kingdom was ranked 5th in terms of investment in the economy of Uzbekistan.
The parties confirmed their interest in further development of Uzbek-British relations and discussed proposals for a schedule of joint activities in 2019.
During the exchange of views on the international and regional agenda, special attention was paid to the Afghan issue. The British side supported the efforts of Uzbekistan to promote inter-Afghan peaceful dialogue and the implementation of major infrastructure and socio-economic projects in Afghanistan.
The meeting also considered the prospects for expanding cooperation in the educational sphere, including the application of relevant standards and experience in the practice of educational institutions of Uzbekistan.
