First Bloomberg Lab in Uzbekistan launched at WIUT
On April 17, 2019, the opening ceremony of the Bloomberg Financial Research and Training Lab (Bloomberg Lab) was held at Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT).
The Bloomberg Lab is equipped with 12 Bloomberg Terminals, through which users are able to access current and historical stock prices, currency exchange rates and quotes on world exchanges and many over-the-counter markets. Besides, there are news feeds and other real-time media resources on the Bloomberg Terminal.
Such labs operate as part of a Bloomberg for Education project at universities around the world. It provides a “dealing room” environment at higher educational institutions, which allows students to learn about real-time financial market operations.
“The opening of the Bloomberg laboratory will help students and teachers to gain practical skills through the use of innovative teaching and learning methods in economics and finance. This is a new step towards modern education, as well as a great contribution to the development of research focused on financial markets. Skills of using tools and resources from Bloomberg will give university graduates an advantage in professional activities,” said WIUT rector Komiljon Karimov.
He also noted that this is the first lab of its kind in Uzbekistan and expresses hope that the university will become a hub for conducting trainings and master classes in financial areas such as financial risk management, analysis of market instruments and trading.
For information, Bloomberg is one of the leading providers of financial information and data for professional participants in financial markets.
