A fraudster who promised to help with enrollment in Westminster University for $10,200 arrested
A person who promised to enroll in the Westminster International University in Tashkent (WIUT) for $10,200 was arrested. The suspect was caught while receiving $5,000 in advance.
The PGO Department and the State Security Service have identified cases of illegal enrollment in two regions.
At an operative event held in the city of Kokand, citizen A.A. earned the trust of citizen S. and promised to enroll his daughter in the Westminster International University in Tashkent for $10,200. He was caught with material evidence when he received $5,000 of the agreed amount.
Also, at the operative event held in the Akaltin district of Syrdarya region, citizen Sh.U. promised citizen U. to enroll in the Tashkent Institute of Finance for $1,800 with the help of his acquaintances. The fraudster was caught with material evidence when he received the agreed money.
On the above facts, a criminal case has been initiated under Articles 168 (fraud), 28 and 211 (bribery) of the Criminal Code. Currently, investigative activities are underway.
