Gold becomes main export product of Uzbekistan in January-March 2019

Gold became the main export product of Uzbekistan in the first quarter of 2019, follows from the data of the State Statistics Committee.
In January-March, exports amounted to $4.1 billion, of which $1.2 billion (29.8% of the total exports) accounted for gold. Energy and oil products ranked second with $751 million (18.2%), and services - third with $666 million (16.1%). Cotton fiber was sold for $110 million, textiles - for $116 million.
As it was reported earlier, Uzbekistan plans to sell 80 tons of gold abroad in 2019. The country has been exporting 70–80 tons of gold for the last three years - in 2016 it was 70 tons, in 2017 - 80, and in 2018 - 70.
It is predicted that average world price for gold this year will rise to $1,320 per troy ounce. In 2018, it was $1,268, in 2017 - $1,258, in 2016 - $1,248.
