Germany wants to implement joint projects with Uzbekistan for Afghan people

On April 24, 2019, the Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany, Günter Overfeld.

According to the press service of the MFA, the parties discussed topical issues of the Uzbek-German interaction on the Afghan issue.

The ambassador informed about the decision of the Government of Germany to begin practical implementation of joint projects with the Uzbek side on training personnel in the health sector on the basis of the Educational Center for training Afghan citizens in the city of Termez.

The sides also discussed practical issues of preparation for the Uzbek-German business forum in October 2019 in Tashkent, within which it is expected to organize an Uzbek-German-Afghan meeting in Termez to establish contacts and enhance cooperation in a trilateral format.

The meeting also considered other issues of joint participation in the socio-economic revival of Afghanistan, primarily in the trade and economic, transport and communications speheres.
