A resolution of the President of Uzbekistan on measures to further improve the mechanisms for attracting foreign direct investment in the economy was adopted.
According to the presidential decree, the Agency for Attracting Foreign Investments under the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic has been entrusted the followings:
• Developing and presenting “Road Show” programs by regularly visiting major international business and financial hubs with presentations to the targeted audience;
• Within two months, in accordance with the decree PF-5611 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On additional measures to accelerate development of tourism in the Republic of Uzbekistan”, dated January 5, 2019, developing jointly with the Ministry of Internal Affairs the draft regulation on investment residency in the Republic of Uzbekistan and pass it to the Cabinet of Ministers;
• Within two months, working out a unique, coordinated information campaign “Invest in Uzbekistan” to promote the positive image of Uzbekistan in international arena by using the latest marketing technologies, creating and promoting a single integrated brand of the country and attracting international consultants on strategic communications.
In addition, the Agency for Information and Mass Communications under the Presidential Administration jointly with the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade, the Ministry of Economy and Industry, including other interested departments will carry out the followings:
• Prepares necessary investment demand and potential projects, presentation materials for foreign investors in various sectors of the economy until July 1, 2019;
• Carries out comprehensive measures on the issues of promoting and disseminating information, first of all, among foreign entrepreneurs, potential investors and public figures on implementation of large-scale reforms in the country, creation of favorable conditions for investments and improvement of the business environment throughout 2019;
• Within the framework of the International Investment Forum, it holds press conferences, roundtables and briefings dedicated to the ongoing reforms, actual aspects of investment projects with participation of heads of sectorial ministries and agencies, the Chairman of the Karakalpakstan’s Council of Ministers, khokims of regions and the city of Tashkent, experts and entrepreneurs, national and foreign mass media;
• On the Internet networks, it provides coordination of work by state bodies and other organizations on preparation of detailed and explicitly prepared information resources, industrial reforms, main parameters of each implemented investment project, guarantees of project implementation, their competitive advantages and others.
