Should Tashkent Medical Academy be named after Abu Ali Ibn Sina?
On the collective reference portal "My opinion", a petition on renaming the Tashkent Medical Academy after Abu Ali Ibn Sina is placed.
“Our great ancestor Abu Ali Ibn Sina is regarded as one of the most significant physicians, astronomers, thinkers and writers of the Islamic Golden Age. He has been described as the father of early modern medicine. Even complex surgical operations and treatment procedures are based on the teachings of Ibn Sina,” the statement said.
His most famous works are “The Book of Healing”, a philosophical and scientific encyclopedia, and “The Canon of Medicine”, a medical encyclopedia which became a standard medical text at many medieval universities and remained in use as late as 1650.
“Taking into consideration his contribution to the sphere, I propose renaming the Tashkent Medical Academy in honor of Abu Ali Ibn Sina” the author of the petition writes.
