According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Washington D.C., the Senior Business Development and Loan Officer at the Export-Import Bank of the United States Douglas Frye will visit our country on May 15-19, 2019, the press service of the MFA said.

Within the framework of his visit, Douglas Frye is expected to participate in the work of the first Uzbek-American-Canadian business forum in Navoi on May 16-17.

He will also hold talks with the leadership of the ministries of finance, agriculture, investment and foreign trade, the National Bank for Foreign Economic Activity of Uzbekistan (NBU), Asaka Bank and Uzsanoatqurilishbank. In the course of the meetings, it is planned to discuss the prospects for expanding the volume of mutual trade between Uzbekistan and the United States as part of implementing the Memorandum of Understanding between the NBU and EXIM Bank, signed on the margins of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s official to the United States in May 2018.

This memorandum provides for the allocation of loans of up to $100 million to US companies operating in the market of Uzbekistan.

On May 8, 2019, the United States Senate confirmed three nominees of President Donald J. Trump as members of the board of directors of the Export-Import Bank. The Senate’s action re-establishes the quorum of three members on EXIM’s board of directors that is needed for the Bank to authorize transactions greater than $10 million in important infrastructures for projects abroad, including in Uzbekistan.
