A solemn ceremony of laying the foundation of a cement plant took place in the Zafarabad district of the Jizzakh region, UzA reports.
The project cost of the plant being built by the IE LLC “Huaxin Cement Jizzakh” is $300 million. The launch of the plant is scheduled for the end of 2019. At the first stage, production of 1.2 million tons of cement M-500 per year is scheduled. With full implementation of the project, over 300 jobs will be created.
“This plant will become the second largest enterprise built in our territory after the Jizzakh cement plant. By the end of this year, 11 more major projects will be implemented in our district for processing of building materials and agricultural products, including establishment of fish farming,” deputy governor of the Zafarabad district O. Musanov said.
Five large cement plants operate in Uzbekistan: “Kizilkumcement”, “Akhangarancement”, “Kuvasaycement”, “Bekabadcement”, “Jizzakh cement plant”, as well as a number of other small enterprises. Their total capacity exceeds 8.5 million tons of products per year. In the next five years, Uzbekistan plans to double the volume of cement production (up to 17 million tons per year).
