President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, who arrived in our country to attend the first meeting of the Joint Commission at the level of heads of government, the presidential press service reports.
The meeting addressed topical issues of further building up mutually beneficial cooperation and accelerating priority investment projects in various sectors of the economy.
Particular attention is paid to timely and high-quality preparation, jointly with the Rosatom State Corporation, of a strategic project for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan.
The importance of effectively utilizing the potential of the regions of Uzbekistan and Russia for more active promotion of trade relations and production cooperation was noted.
An agreement was reached on enhancing exchanges at the level of regional administrations and business circles.
The issues of deepening scientific, technical and humanitarian cooperation were also discussed. An exchange of views on the international agenda took place.
It was emphasized that the first meeting of the Joint Commission, which will be held today in Urgench, will be an important stage in the preparation of the upcoming summit meetings and will allow to identify new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation.
According to UzA, the delegation of the Russian Federation led by Dmitry Medvedev has already arrived in the Khorezm region. The high guest was met at the international airport of Urgench by the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov and the khokim of the Khorezm region Farhad Ermanov.
The Russian PM will take part in the first meeting of the Uzbek-Russian joint commission at the level of heads of government, which will be held in Urgench.
This event is a new form of bilateral cooperation, at which the heads of government of the two countries will sum up the 20th meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation held on April 24, and discuss promising areas for further development of trade and economic relations, filling them with concrete practical content.
At the end of the meeting it is planned to sign a number of documents.
