The CICA Summit kicked off in Dushanbe in the “Navruz” palace, the presidential press service said.
The forum is attended by over 30 delegations from participating countries and observers of the meeting, as well as international and regional organizations.
Before the start of the meeting, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was warmly welcomed by the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
Then the heads of all delegations took part in the ceremony of joint photographing. The leader of Tajikistan opened the summit with an opening speech.
The CICA is an international forum aimed at promoting peace, security and stability, enhancing the well-being of countries and peoples in the continent. Today, the structure consists of 27 states, which account for 90 percent of the territory and population of Asia. Eight countries and five authoritative international organizations - the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, the League of Arab States, the International Organization for Migration, the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries - have observer status.
Over the past years, 3 CICA summits have taken place under the chairmanship of Kazakhstan, Turkey, and China. The current meeting is held under the slogan “Common Vision for a Safe and More Prosperous CICA Region”.
The agenda of the meeting includes the development of concerted approaches to ensuring peace, security and stability in Asia, countering terrorism and extremism, illicit drug trafficking, expanding trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation between member states, as well as interaction in the field of environmental protection.
