“What worries me most is the fact that corruption is not ceased in the units that are responsible to oppose it” – Nigmatilla Yuldashev

Chairman of the Senate of Oliy Majlis Nigmatilla Yuldashev is concerned about the reported cases of the receipt and giving of bribes by law enforcement and judicial officials. N. Yuldashev stated about this in the Senate at an expanded meeting of the interdepartmental commission on combating corruption. He drew the attention of civil servants to the fact that signs of corruption were not yet eradicated in the departments headed by them.

“At today's meeting, I want to point out to the heads of bodies and departments the still occurring corruption vestiges in the work of their subordinates. How to assess the fact that, despite the conditions created for them, only in 2018 about 2,000 officials were prosecuted for such serious crimes?” the Chairman of the Senate said.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office, over the past year, 68 criminal cases were initiated against 116 bank managers, their deputies and chief accountants. How do managers of the banking system comment on this?

In the public education sphere, about 150 employees were prosecuted (in 103 criminal cases), 24 of them were related to bribery.

Almost 70 criminal cases were initiated against 93 employees in the healthcare system.

Also, 11 employees of the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations were prosecuted.

“What worries me most is the fact that corruption is not ceased in the units that are responsible to oppose it. In particular, in 2018, 39 police officers, more than dozens of prosecutors, 2 customs officers, 1 judge and a lawyer each were held accountable for taking bribes. And such examples can be cited in almost all state bodies,” Nigmatilla Yuldashev said.
