Supreme Court comments on alleged release of Gulnara Karimova
No one has yet applied to the judicial bodies on the case of Gulnara Karimova. A representative of the Supreme Court announced this today during a press conference, Kun.uz correspondent reports.
“On the case of Gulnara Karimova, nobody has appealed to the Supreme Court yet. Various information appears on the social network that she would be acquitted and released, but her family members make these statements. Currently, we are not reviewing any documents on the Gulnara Karimova’s case,” a representative of the Supreme Court Ikrom Muslimov noted.
Earlier, Gulnara Karimova’s daughter Iman Karimova published an appeal from her mother on Instagram. Gulnara Karimova apologized to the people and said that she returned $1.2 billion to the authorities.
Later it also became known that Switzerland would return 130 million Swiss francs (about $133 million) to Uzbekistan after securing a conviction in its six-year investigation into allegations of money laundering involving Gulnara Karimova.
