Uzbekistan to increase excise tax rates for alcohol, tobacco and compressed gas

A presidential decree on measures to further improve the regulation of the production and sale of certain types of products subject to excise tax has been signed, the Ministry of Justice said.
In accordance with the decree:
- from August 15, 2019, the excise tax rate for the sale of compressed gas to the end consumer has been increased by 20%;
- from October 1, 2019, the excise tax rate on alcohol products increased by an average of 10%, tobacco products - by 20%.
Also, the validity period of previously issued licenses for the production of alcohol and alcoholic beverages has been extended until January 1, 2020.
