Demolition of houses in Urgench: Prime Minister arrives at the scene, ensures payment of compensation to people
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev ordered Prime Minister Abdullah Aripov to examine, analyze and solve the disagreement between the residents of the Ashgabat Street, Urgench, and the city administration.
According to the Kun.uz source, the Prime Minister arrived in Khorezm region from Angren. He talked to people who had been moved to the Chondirqiyot village, Urgench district.
Compensation payments have been distributed among the population suffered from the demolition.
It should be noted that in May-June 2019, on the Ashgabat Street in Urgench, Khorezm region, local authorities began to evict and demolish the homes of local residents.
According to the master plan of the city, Ashkhabad mahalla is an industrial zone. Residents moved here 50-60 years ago. Currently, the authorities demolished the homes of about 400 households and allocated land to them in the Chondirqiyot village, Urgench district.
On July 26, residents who did not receive compensation, and those who live in the fields, blocked the road “Urgench-Khanka”. As a result, traffic jams were formed on the road.
On July 26, some residents received compensation, but the amount was excessively small. Instead of the promised 50%, the Central Bank paid only 8%. In turn, this caused discontent among residents. People demanded a meeting with the khokim of the city of Urgench. They also demanded a 50% compensation payment. Later, people destroyed the builders’ tents and closed the road.
On the same day, the regional khokim Farkhod Ermanov arrived on the scene. He promised that on July 27, a special group would be organized on the spot, and they would solve all the problems. After that, residents began to disperse, and the road was open.
