Government announces tender for management and modernization of Urgench International Airport
The operator will need to build a new terminal, runway, and other facilities.
The government of Uzbekistan and Uzbekistan Airports are starting the selection of a company to transfer the management of Urgench International Airport, according to the Ministry of Transport.
PwC and White & Case are acting as specialized consultants for the tender process. All interested companies with experience in implementing similar projects are invited to participate.
The managing company will be required to modernize the airport using the "build — operate — transfer" (BOT) model. The project plans include the construction of:
• A new runway 3,500 meters long, the main taxiway, two auxiliary taxiways, and two connecting taxiways;
• A passenger terminal of 39,000 square meters, with a capacity of 1,000 passengers per hour for international flights and 300 passengers for domestic flights;
• An administrative terminal;
• A cargo terminal;
• A hangar for special equipment;
• A catering complex.
Negotiations with applicants and document exchanges will be conducted through a special virtual data room for the project. To join, it is necessary to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA).
Requests for access to the virtual data room and submission of the NDA should be sent to tender.info@uzairports.com. Expressions of interest and a scanned copy of the signed NDA should also be sent to this address.
The expression of interest should specify the type of application (individual or consortium, listing all participants in the latter case), as well as the list of participant representatives and their email addresses. Applications are accepted until 6:00 PM Tashkent time on September 14.
