Light rail to be built in Samarkand
Construction of a light metro will soon begin in the Samarkand region. This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov.
Within the framework of his visit to the Samarkand region on July 26, Shavkat Mirziyoyev put forward the initiative to build a tourist center on the territory of the rowing canal. Visiting the site, Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with the project, for the construction of which 360 hectares of land were allocated. It is planned to build a palace of forums, hotels and other facilities on 80 hectares.
3-, 4-, 5-star hotels will be constructed for local and foreign tourists. Moreover, artificial islands, swimming pools, restaurants and recreational areas will be created.
According to Aziz Abdukhakimov, Shavkat Mirziyoyev also ordered the creation of children's health camps here. Besides, in order to ensure and develop the transport infrastructure, the President ordered to start the construction of a light metro.
