German Government fully supports steps taken by Uzbekistan to facilitate launch of peace process in Afghanistan
On August 3, 2019, Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with the Special Representative of the German Federal Government for Afghanistan and Pakistan Markus Potzel, the MFA press service said.
During the conversation, the efforts of Uzbekistan and Germany to resolve the Afghan crisis were discussed.
Attention was drawn to the need for close cooperation of the international community to resolve the situation in Afghanistan.
The Special Representative of the German Federal Government praised the current level of collaboration on the most important bilateral issues, emphasizing the similarity of the positions of Uzbekistan and Germany on priority aspects of contacts in the Afghan direction.
It was emphasized that the Government of Germany fully supports the steps taken by the leadership of Uzbekistan to facilitate the launch of the peace process in Afghanistan, to revive the socio-economic infrastructure and to train personnel for various sectors of the economy of the neighboring country.
The parties expressed their mutual readiness to continue a constructive and mutually beneficial dialogue on the Afghan issue both at the level of special representatives of the two countries on Afghanistan and the heads of the foreign affairs agencies of Uzbekistan and Germany.
