“The issue of recognizing the Taliban has not yet been raised” - Abdulaziz Kamilov
Kamilov noted that the issue of recognizing the government of Afghanistan in the near future is not on the agenda, but the normalization of relations with other countries will pave the way for it.
Abdulaziz Kamilov, the special representative of the President of Uzbekistan on foreign policy issues, communicated with journalists on July 26 within the framework of the international conference on Afghanistan held in Tashkent and answered the question about the possibility of recognizing the interim government of Afghanistan by the international community.
He noted that this event was very positive, and relations between the players in Afghanistan have improved.
“The relations between the NATO countries and the other side were very complicated in Afghanistan. Today we have seen that the relations have improved a lot. The issue of using frozen resources was raised by all. I think there are changes for the better in this regard. Today’s agenda is the economic development of Afghanistan and related projects. We are discussing a new Afghanistan construction model.
The issue of “recognizing the Taliban” was not raised today. But the changes are positive, the normalization of relations with other countries is part of the way to the issue of “recognition”, Kun.uz correspondent quoted Kamilov as saying.
In response to the question of which country will be the first to recognize the Taliban, Abdulaziz Kamilov jokingly replied that “there is no queue to recognize the Taliban”.
