At the Bukhara Oil Refinery (BOR), a project to upgrade the facility for $553 million has started. The refinery, founded in 1997, will be technologically upgraded for the first time in 22 years, the Uzbekneftegaz press service reported.

It is proposed to carry out the modernization and reconstruction of the BOR in three stages:

The first stage, designed for 2019, involves replacing the catalyst with a gas oil hydrotreatment unit of the latest generation, which will provide 20% of the total diesel fuel that meets the requirements of Euro 4.5 and 80% of Euro 3.

The second stage will last until the end of 2022. It provides for the modernization and reconstruction of existing production lines with the installation of additional equipment aimed at improving product quality. As a result of the implementation of the second stage, an increase in the production of high-octane gasoline AI-91, AI-93, AI-95, meeting the requirements of Euro 3, Euro 5, and the production of 100% diesel fuel according to Euro 5, will be ensured.

The last stage will last until 2025. Organizing the deep processing of fuel oil envisages the construction of new plants. At the III stage, it will facilitate increasing the depth of processing of raw materials from 79% to 95%, and increasing the yield of light oil products from 77% to 91%.

Currently, the possibility of attracting direct investment by the company for implementing the project is being studied.
