The Ministry of Energy appealed to residents who have land plots located at a distance less than 25 meters away from the territory of substations, which are undergoing modernization in the Andijan, Samarkand and Jizzakh regions and the city of Tashkent.
As the JSC National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan states, in compliance with the presidential decree on measures to implement the investment project “Modernization and reconstruction of substations of trunk networks” with participation of the World Bank, it is planned to modernize 22 substations throughout Uzbekistan.
Together with the World Bank, an “Environmental and Social Management Plan” was developed as part of this project. During the development, it was revealed that the sites of the substations listed below border both residential and industrial buildings located at a distance exceeding the permissible norm (less than 25 meters):
- Substation “Yulduz” (Andijan district, Andijan region);
- Substation “Jizzakh” (Jizzakh, Jizzakh region);
- Substation “Katta-kurgan” (Kattakurgan, Samarkand region);
- Substation “Samarkand” (Hishrau village, Samarkand region);
- Substation “Ozodlik” (Uchtepa district, Tashkent);
- Substation “Yuksak” (Yakkasaray district, Tashkent);
- Substation “Kuylyuk” (Yashnabad district, Tashkent).
In this regard, the JSC National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan announced an upcoming public consultation with the population who live near the above substations in order to discuss emerging environmental and social issues on October 7-10, 2019:
- Substation “Yulduz” – on October 7, 2019;
- Substation “Ozodlik” – on October 8, 2019;
- Substation “Yuksak” – on October 8, 2019;
- Substation “Kuylyuk” – October 8, 2019;
- Substation “Jizzakh” – on October 9, 2019;
- Substation “Katta-kurgan” – on October 10, 2019;
- Substation “Samarkand” – on October 10, 2019.
