Oksana Chusovitina wins vault at Paris Challenge Cup
Uzbekistan’s 11-time World Championships medalist and three-time gold medalist Oksana Chusovitina, 44, won the Vault at the FIG World Challenge Cup in Paris on Sunday, the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan reports.
Her score of 14.300 easily out-distanced Sara Peter (HUN: 13.900) for her first win this season and fourth medal in the World Cup and World Challenge Cup programs combined.
Another Uzbek athlete Indira Ulmasova secured the 8th place.
The results are as follows:
1. Oksana Chusovitina (Uzbekistan) - 14.300
2. Sarah Peter (Hungary) - 13.900
3. Franchesca Santi (Chile) - 13.750
8. Indira Ulmasova (Uzbekistan) - 12.325
Chusovitina is the only person in the history of gymnastics who participated in 7 Summer Olympic Games (1992, 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016).
The next round of the FIG World Challenge Cup series will be held in Guimaraes, Portugal, on November 21-24, and the World Cup will be held in Cottbus, Germany, on September 19-22. The 2019 World Gymnastics Championships will be held in Stuttgart on October 4-13.
