Uzbekistan Airways plans to launch flights to Europe and America through St. Petersburg
Uzbekistan Airways is interested in flights to Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg under the fifth air freedom regime, Sputnik Uzbekistan writes with reference to the NAC press service.
Liberalization of airspace in Pulkovo will allow Uzbekistan Airways to expand the geography of flights by changing the existing routes and opening new ones.
“In case of obtaining the fifth air freedom, JSC Uzbekistan Airways will consider the possibility of flights from Pulkovo airport to such countries as Norway, Finland, Canada and the USA,” the NAC said.
The fifth freedom regime allows people to fly from one state to another if the flight starts or ends in the carrier’s country of registration. Using the “fifth freedom” an Uzbekistan Airways plane will be able to make a flight from Tashkent to the USA with a stop at Pulkovo Airport; during the stop in St. Petersburg, some passengers will leave, and those who intend to fly to the United States will board.
Thus, the airline will be able to ensure occupancy of flights, and passengers from different countries will have more opportunities for choosing flight directions.
