Ilhomjon Nematov: “There is no external pressure on us in joining the EAEU”
Today, December 6, a press conference was held at the CEC international press center.
During the event, the First Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Ilhomjon Nematov delivered a speech.
“In matters of the Eurasian Economic Union, Uzbekistan is primarily guided by national interests. There is no external pressure on us in this matter,” he said.
It should be recalled that earlier, the IMF official Juha Kähkönen said that Uzbekistan’s entry into the EAEU would complicate trade with other regions.
In addition, the first deputy chairman of the Senate of Oliy Majlis Sodiq Safoyev said that for three years now Uzbekistan has been studying the issue of joining the EAEU and no country can put pressure on the republic on this issue.
“I understand why the entry into the EAEU caused such a resonance. I would not want to unnecessarily politicize this topic. Do not even raise the question of pressure on Uzbekistan. The leader of the country is not a person, who can bend under pressure,” Safoyev said then.
