Alisher Kadirov speaks about labor migrants: A person who respects himself won’t take a ride on a bus in need of repair in freezing cold just to save up $50

The leader of the Democratic Party “Milly Tiklanish” Alisher Kadirov has commented on migration issues at a program aired on the Uzreport TV channel.

“It would be a lie if we say that Uzbekistan will provide hundred percent of its citizens with work in the next 20 years. It would be deceiving ourselves. The pace of economic growth in Uzbekistan, the labor force and population growth rates are not proportional. There are countries in the world that have the surplus of manpower, and Uzbekistan is one of them. It is from this point of view that we need to radically change the form of work of the ministries and agencies responsible for this issue. Today we need to think about an effective system of labor resources export.

A lot of talk is going on around it today: creating conditions, getting to know them. These are not solutions to the problem. We need to think about what kind of labor resources might be needed in neighboring countries today, how to get them there, and how to ensure that they have the right conditions and privileges,” Kadirov said.

He noted that parliaments should discuss issues of ensuring the rights of citizens living abroad during inter-parliamentary meetings.

“At school we have to teach kids first and foremost self-esteem. A person who respects himself will not look for a job in a country where he cannot speak the language, a person who has a self-respect will not take a ride on a bus in need of repair in freezing cold just to save up $50. People should have dignity and self-respect,” Alisher Kadirov said.
