A meeting of the discussion club “New Uzbekistan – new elections” was held in the AIMC Media Hall.

The event titled “New Uzbekistan – new elections” focused on the issues of key changes in the election sphere, completion of election campaigns, preparations for elections, prospects for parliamentary development and parliamentary diplomacy.

During the event, the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of Oliy Majlis Sodiq Safoyev spoke about the current changes.

“Three years ago Uzbekistan was one of the most authoritarian countries. It was included in the list of states, which did not perform their basic functions properly. The concept and philosophy of development of the country had to change, and it was clear to all that we had to change the political system first. This is because human potential cannot be realized without changing the political system and securing human rights.

First of all, new laws and public administration systems should have contemporary look in order to attract investments, develop small businesses, create jobs and make our country competitive. I think, this is the model of Uzbekistan’s development,” Safoyev said.
