Private kindergartens to accept children from 1 year old starting from June 2020

On December 14 this year, the Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan “On preschool education and upbringing” was approved, and on December 16, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed it.

The law defines the basic concepts of pre-school education and upbringing, it establishes a legal mechanism for regulating this sphere.

Article 34 of the Law deals with the coverage of preschool education groups, which also specifies the age of children to be enrolled in preschool education intuitions.

Specifically:

the first development group - from one to three years;
subgroup - from three to four years;
middle group - from four to five years;
senior group - five to six years;
school preparatory group - six to seven years.

According to the head of the press service Dilafruz Ikramova, the norm applies to private PEI. They are now allowed to adopt children at the age of two, and with the enactment of the law, that is, from June 16, 2020, private kindergartens will have the right to accept children at the age of one.

The current Regulation on the PEI specifies that children under three years of age can be enrolled in government-administered PEIs.
