STC fires 40% of tax officials for failure to pass qualification exams in 2019
Today, January 4, a press conference on the essence of the Tax Code in new edition was held.
First Deputy Chairman of the State Tax Committee (STC) Mubin Mirzayev reported on corruption cases encountered in the tax system.
“We investigate corruption cases encountered in the regions. For example, last year, in Samarkand region, we reported to the prosecutor’s office about employees, who demanded money from entrepreneurs. Over 11,500 specialists work in the sphere across the country, and we have fired almost 40% of them in the 2019 qualification exams.
As long as there is corruption, we cannot put the system in the right order. Our priority is to fight against corruption. We may not get rid of this problem in a year, but in three years, we want to turn the whole tax system into a body rendering state-of-the-art services for the people, businesses and organizations,” Mubin Mirzayev said.
Also, some statistic data on the taxation were presented at the conference. For example, 4 of the 13 types of taxes were abolished. As of the end of 2019, the number of taxpayers in the country amounted to 5.03 million people.
