“We need to think deeply about the interests of our people and then participate in integration processes” – Abdulaziz Kamilov

A meeting of the International Press Club devoted to the analysis of the President’s address to the parliament was held today, January 25.

Speaking at the session, Abdulaziz Kamilov touched upon the tasks set by the President on Uzbekistan’s accession to international integration processes, in particular, cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

“Uzbekistan has assumed presidency in the CIS this year. We will continue to work separately within this organization. There are also major regional organizations such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. There are also many events, a few of which will be held in Uzbekistan.

In his address, the President touched upon the issue of integration. Today’s agenda includes integration with three large organizations. These are the signing of a new agreement on cooperation and partnership with the EAEU, the World Trade Organization, and the European Union.

We have conducted detailed negotiations with them. We are exploring in what part of these integration processes Uzbekistan might be involved.

Integration is a natural process in the era of globalization. All countries strive for integration.

Our President has clearly stated that we always consider the state and national interests of Uzbekistan. About 80 percent of our access to foreign markets goes through the transit routes of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. There are also other issues. That is why we are taking into account our own interests, the focus of our attention will be on the interest of people of Uzbekistan.

The EAEU member states are talking about many of the problems they face. We should avoid such problems and mistakes they have made, instead, we should think thoroughly and then participate in integration processes,” the Foreign Minister said.
