Tanzila Narbayeva: 5 million people live in poverty in Uzbekistan
On January 27, a training seminar was held at the Academy of Public Administration for deputy khokims of regions, as well as heads of districts and cities.
According to UzA, during the event, the Senate chairperson Tanzila Narbayeva delivered a speech.
“The President did not speak in vain about the problem of poverty, because this problem exists in the country. Once I worked in the social sphere myself, but we were forbidden to talk about poverty. We named it “low-income,” she said.
Tanzila Narbayeva said that in Uzbekistan, the number of poor people is 5 million.
“If we speak openly about the problem, then appropriate measures must be taken,” she said.
The Senate Chairperson emphasized that “every system must carry out its work at the proper level”. In addition, she proposed developing local entrepreneurship.
It should be recalled that President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his address to the parliament on January 24 said that the poverty level in the country is about 12-15 percent.
