A 20-year-old mother detained in Andijan for attempting to sell her child

In Andijan, a young woman was detained while trying to sell her child for $5,000, the Prosecutor General’s Office reports.
“A twenty-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan was detained while selling her eight-month-old daughter for $5,000 to a potential buyer. She was handing over the birth certificate as well,” the report said.
A criminal case has been opened against the detainee under the article “Trafficking in minors”, which provides for a punishment of imprisonment from 8 to 12 years.
